This is the 50 watt version of the MXT275. The 275 is 15 watt (This is the one I run in my vehicle and I have never had an issue with it), but I guess if you need all that power, here is an option. The 275/575 allows you to remote mount the head unit and the controls are on the handset for hidden set-up (if that's your thing).
There are some issues with the Midland approach to GMRS (split-tones, band width etc), but its an easy radio to use out of the box and it will do most everything you want to do for trail communications. Just thought I would flag it.
