With boxed frame --like older ford trucks and land rover defender--living in the midwest at some point the back half of the frame disappears!
Are the boxed frames fully rustproofed? in and out?
Toyota has replaced frames on older Tacoma,s in our midwest area--

I live in Michigan and was considering electronic corrosion control until I read this article.

Hard to stop rust up there if you drive your truck in the winter. Vehicles have much better resistance to rust than they did long ago but steel does not like salt, that we all know.

Not sure on the new Bronc's frame rustproofing specs, however, Land Rover owners have been using two products for years to undercoat their rigs and protect; Waxoyl and Dinitrol. Problem is once you coat your truck that stuff is on there.

Ford either uses or endorses Waxoyl, according to the Waxoyl website.

Maybe one day the entire frame will be built from an aluminum/vibranium hybrid.

If only they would use the world's supply of vibranium for something other than shields

I have had land rovers and the waxoyl is a great product. They do sell a kit to put in frame holes-a tube and spray head. It sprays 360 degrees. I waxoyl my new 2015 f250 as I hate rusty frame and suspension parts. My truck still looks new where you can see underbody.
There are more products today that are cheaper but not as good.
Ford has done something about the rust spots on every truck I have seen. They could make the frame not boxed but open like pickups-stopping moisture build-up.

I used Cosmoline on my Jeep, inside frame and entire bottom, looks great no rust. The CRC heavy duty marine corrosion inhibitor seems best but proliferates everywhere, at minimum you need a good face mask and googles. The cosmoline direct is a little thinner, compatible with the CRC and doesn't proliferate as much. Disadvantage is in very hot conditions it gets soft. The boxed frames need this sprayed inside the frames over the electro coating Ford has on the frames.

Agreed, I've also used magnet paints chassis saver, both are good enamels, then I use Cosmoline on top of this paint.

Boxed Frames have been on F series since 2004. Ford's Frames are Powder Coated, (unlike GM's Waxed Dipped). and many 2004 F150's are around with paint still on their frames. I just traded my 2008 F150 Plow Truck and the frame wasn't rusted. Also I just had a 2010 Chebby traded in, same km's and the frame was rusted.

Used it for years, washes off in car washes & salt spray, in areas not under direct spray it creates oily mess. I don't recommend it as my results were by spring fluid film gone and more rust on the entire truck underbody.
