I’m Preparing Myself for a 2023…

After a chat this morning with my guy at the dealership, it’s clear that he’s preparing me for a 2023 vs a 2021, then a 2022. I was an early 21 res and order, then October 21 reorder for a 22.

It’s my understanding from the conversation that Ford still has 3x the number of orders placed than capacity to build. It seems that my “wants” are similar to many others and the likelihood that my reservation/order will get pulled for production is slim. I’m a pretty simple guy that doesn’t buy often but do want what I want and that means Badlands, SAS, 2.7, LUX, MIC, tow). So now I’ll start trolling the great unknown for possible 2023 color changes and options and have that information in my hip pocket. Maybe a heritage edition will be in the future…

Still in it for the long haul and no, I don’t drink - so it’s an iced tea for me. Here’s wishing everyone extra patience and understanding.

At this point I'm almost hoping for a push to 2023. More of the bugs should get worked out. And they might come out with a new color that I will love. Not just like.

I'm talking with my dealer tomorrow to understand how many out of the original allocation did they even receive. I'm getting the sense that many of us are going to be pushed into 2023. While frustrating (very much so) I still want to wait it out and refuse to change to a soft top in hopes it speeds up my production.
I actually thought i'd get mine this year, so much so that I sold my car back in September... no build date :-(

When I reserved mine, I was sure I'd have mine by mid-July 2021.

Why not just wait until 2024 when they do upgrade redesign?

I personally don’t see Ford doing any upgrade or redesign until 2025 - more likely 2026. There’s no business case for it. The current product outsells production capacity/capability 3:1 and yet buyers are STILL lining up to place new orders. I anticipate they’ll continue to offer a “teaser / year” much like the Everglades, etc. Just my opinion for what it’s worth…

After my own experience... This has everything to do with dealer allocation than anything else. I walked in Jan and 3 weeks later had a build date. Asked the dealer how many they have sold when I ordered they sold 3... 1 of which was a lot model. That was back in Jan. I'm convinced that's 95% the issue
