I don't know the correct term is for these, but the metal cable that ties from the hood to the roof rack:

Where can you get these? How much?

They are called "limb risers."

They are for travelling in a wooded environment to keep limbs from dragging across the hood, or more importantly from hitting (and cracking) your windshield. They are essential for overlanding, and if you see a rig without them you know they are a poseur that never really goes off road, driven by someone that probably uses their rig to go to the mall to buy video games about overlanding, or someone that spends all day watching Youtube videos of people actually overlanding.

Here is a kit; although the brackets are for a Jeep

You can also just buy the wire, enough for about five rigs for the same price:

I linked coated wire because if it isn't coated it may end up scratching paint somewhere when you open/lower your hood.

@AcesandEights is correct. They are also known as "Safari wires", popular on jungle running etc.

In all my years off roading I have never used them. Good idea though.

A functional accessory for me, currently living in Arkansas with plenty of trees and tight trails. To do this seems like a little more than just a quick stop at your local hardware store. The mounting bracket for the hood riser and connection to the rack has a rubber sleeve or is custom made, at least from what I can tell.

That’s because years ago, you really didn’t need them since the body were more metal and we weren’t going 50+ MPH in the woods :LOL:They really aren’t needed unless you’re in a jungle Says the guy that has driven in war torn country, driven in the mountains of Hawaii, and Saudi sand and now will be driving to the “mall to buy video games overlanding”

Those trail sights on the hood/fender will be the first thing I remove when I take possession. To many years crawling without them. Hopefully there's a delete piece available soon or I'll have something made.

Old Town weighs less than 50, but driving down the road at 50 mph has to have some air underneath pushing it up.Maybe I'll use the winch to hold it down.
