The covid-19 has changed the way we lived and last years all car factories just delayed in producing cars especially ford broncos in first beginning last year, lol…
So own bronco is not so easy
Here comes the question:
How long will u keep your bronco vehicle?
Maybe in near future, ford will have more new interesting vehicles, change for new car or keep it forever?

Let me know your thoughts, say here.

I am usually good with a vehicle for about 5 years max, and then things start breaking... I had one vehicle I had longer (about 7-8 years), which was a '94 Miata -to this day, I still maintain that it was the BEST drivers car I've ever owned or driven ... most fords crap out after 4-5 years (my 2012 mustang had the rear end blow up within about a year and a half, then the trans at about 3 years, and then the engine spun a rod bearing at 4.5 years (60k miles), my next mustang (a 2016) needed a new engine at 62k miles.. my wife had a 2016 focus that needed transmission repairs no less than 3x within 4 years of buying it new... so I won't count on this Bronco lasting more than 4-5 years - I don't want to be stranded out in the boonies off-loading somewhere with a blown engine/transmission/axle . this will be my 8th or 9th Ford - and I am speaking from experience when I say that they are not reliable beyond about 4-5 years.

Planned on keeping mine for a long, long time. However it is already in for repair with just 500 miles on the odometer, so at this point I am thinking about selling it next week.

Long time. Very long time.

And Covid didn’t change that. Just to give you a sense of my vehicle history…
  • 1979 Ford F-100 - don’t know mileage but it basically was fully rebuilt in 2004. Still in the family, now a dedicated water hauler to my parents’ property in rural Arizona.
  • 1981(?) Ford Club Wagon - totaled in mid-1990s after a fork lift fell on it (long story)
  • 1989 Ford Bronco - Traded-in during cash-for-clunkers (2009). 260,000 miles.
  • 1991 Ford Escort - Traded-in in 2012. 286,000 miles
  • 1996 Ford F-250 - 180,000 miles. Still in family.
  • 2005 Ford Freestar - 220,000 miles. Still in family
  • 2005 Chevy Cobalt - 140,000 miles. Blown engine. Wife's car from prior to our marriage. First non-Ford vehicle and to-date the only vehicle that has suffered catastrophic failure.
  • 2008 Ford Focus - 170,000 miles. Still in the family.
  • 2013 Ford Focus - 80,000 miles. My current daily driver
  • 2016 Ford Focus - 42,000 miles. Killed by suicidal oak tree last summer. RIP.
  • 2020 Ford Escape - 8,000 miles, wife’s current daily driver.
  • 2022 Ford Bronco - Not mine yet, but hopefully soon. Probably less than 10 miles right now, just got produced last this past week.
I’ve driven, owned, and/or repaired all of these. All were also bought new by either myself or other members of my immediate family except for the F-100, the Club Wagon, and the F-250. F-100 was bought from a well-known family friend (single owner), but the other two were from strangers.

Edit— And yes, I am upset Ford no longer manufacturers the Pinto/Escort/Focus line of vehicles.

Edit2— Forgot about the Cobalt… but it’s added now. Pain in the rear that vehicle was.

how do you have a 2020 vehicle with only 8k miles on it? and a 9 year old focus with only 80k miles on it? No wonder you keep your cars, you never use them, LOL .. I put about 15-20k miles a year on my vehicles, so give the max lifespan of a ford being 75-100k miles, that's about 4-5 years for me

The Escape I bought 13 months ago. It is 2020MY even though we bought it well into 2021. It’s my wife’s daily driver and she only drives locally, usually taxing kids around. School, stores, grandparents’ house (who lives in the same town as us), etc. Usually only ~5000-6000 miles a year. The only reason why it has 8000 miles now is because I drove it a lot during the lock downs.

The Focus was averaging around 12,000 miles a year up until Covid hit. I’ve only driven it maybe 4,000 miles total over the past two years.

Beer was involved wasn't it?
Probably. Short version:

Construction company was building new houses across the street. Construction company had a forklift they were using to help build those houses. At the end of the day they loaded the forklift onto the flatbed truck and started driving away. Problem is they never tied down the forklift to their flatbed.

Betcha you can guess what happened next.

Huge crash, we walk outside after hearing the crash to find a forklift physically stuck in the side of the our van.

After that there was some rather typical rural Arizona entertainment (and yes, guns were involved). But in the end no one got hurt and they paid several thousand for the van.

I intend to keep the Bronco until I either can't drive or it becomes unfixable. My 07 Edge is a fantastic vehicle that has 185,000 miles. It has some rust but not bad. I think with an extended warranty the Bronco should last a long time. Way beyond 4 or 5 years.

I've had 15 cars in the past 27 years. Do the math. That's 1.8 years on average. A two-year lease would make the most sense for me, regardless of what I choose to buy.

That said, I've only got so many years left, so I'm trying to enjoy as many cars as I can! o_O

I have never waited this long for a vehicle before so I intend to keep it for a very long time. Was waiting years for them to release the new bronco ever since I saw the concept at the auto show. This is a vehicle I would like to hand down to my son in the future, and as far as bashing Ford reliability..... I hope the engine does fail after 5 years so I can throw a V8 in it haha But I trust Ford with this Bronco reliability. The trucks are their bread and butter so seem to be better built.
