DEBATE: Is the 2021 Bronco the same as Ford's 1964 1/2 mustang?

Discussion!

Isn't what is currently going on with the 2021 Ford Bronco exactly what Ford did with the Mustang? It also had a mid-year delivery, hence the reason why Ford called it a 1964 1/2 mustang. It also had build issues for the first one. Heck the 1964 1/2 mustang didn't even have an alternator! Ford had to use a generator instead.

I THINK FORD SHOULD NAME THIS NEXT GENERATION BRONCO THE 2021 1/2 BRONCO.

Besides the cool factor, it is a nod to the 60's heritage of Ford. Which is what this Bronco is all about!!

I've been calling it a 1964 1/2 Bronco since you could make reservations. If I don't get a 2021 (1964.5), I'm cancelling my order.

Yes .
Ish...
The 64 1/2 Mustang was actually considered a 65 by Ford “originally” .
The Mustang was a new model originally “planned” in 63 I believe, to be a competitor to the Rear engine Chevrolet corvair .
Ford found out that a rear engine car was more then they wanted to step off into.
So they kept a small sport shape and ran a familiar drivetrain as they had on falcons and fairlanes. “All Generator models in 64”.
Most all of fords models switched to alternators in 65.
Parts became a problem ordering what was “early 65 mustang parts” so 64 1/2 was kept more in the parts books for repairs.
64 1/2 caught on about 30 years ago as obviously fewer were made , as to grab its own appraisal value in comparison to a physical year 65.
Jump to the Bronco...
Same production timeline as the early 1/2 year Mustang build.
But very different circumstances.
Bronco honestly isn’t being built to compete with jeep. It is being “marketed” to compete with jeep.
Yes Bronco is a new build,
But it’s different this time.
It’s not a new line.
With BRONCO comes great expectations of performance. Not because of jeep. But because of the 5 previous generations of Bronco builds. The Bronco diehard is a massive group of people already established. You could add all of the social Bronco networks together and Mabee count 30% of the enthusiasts. Most are out mudding together and have their own shops. And have no interest in online entertainment. Likely ask anyone here, what’s with the television in the dash. I wanna see it for real and not stare at a screen.
IMO yes it’s similar,
But different circumstances.

Yes , ranger “Platform”.
Obviously in the electronics age many things will cross over back and fourth. As they can work it into the engineering from the beginning. That being said,
The Ranger is nothing like the Bronco.
No, I haven’t seen one yet.
But...
The Broncos work load is very different from what’s expected of a Ranger Pickup truck.

please read this as respectful.
It is my intent.

My first car was a 1965 Mustang convertible. An amazing dark green with white top and interior. Loved that car. So it is fitting that a Bronco will be my first true off-road vehicle. Minus the green exterior, the white top, and white interior. ;)
