Nice topic
@Laura. Over the years, these are the books and maps that my hands have touched the most. If you want to fish and hike the Catskills in New York, put these in your library!
My favorite book of all. This is a large book with artistic maps and fantastic photos that, with vivid memory, take me back to every memory I've had in the area over decades.
The Land of Little Rivers! This is the first thing you see when you open this book. This and the other maps in the book are very true to the land.
These maps are the maps to put i your backpack.
If you're a beginner in fly fishing, put this in your pocket for the first few seasons. Then go to Catskill Flies in Roscoe NY or Dette Flies in Livingston Manor for home made imitations of the bugs. These are the only people who know how to proeprly imitate these bugs for these waters. Walk in to these shops any time and you'll see them tying these flies based on what's hatching that day.
This, to some, is the devil's handbook :) This guy broke all norms and put in gps coordinates for access points to the upper Delaware river system. In honesty though, this is a big river system and this book helps get you going.
