Working on my 78 Custom. My first step in converting my NP203 back to Full Time operation was to install new Solid Drive Slugs!

Many (if not most?) 203's were converted to part-time operation early on to increase gas mileage. I think Dana made the kit. Converted 203's will have locking front hubs. One of my front hubs disintegrated this summer leaving me with 2WD only. I have all the parts to convert back but the bad hub has forced me to install the slugs a bit sooner than intended. In the mean time I have 4WD again for the snow here in Colorado. I'll do the full time conversion sometime this summer.

Nice - I wasn't aware of the slugs. I guess long gone in today's motor world. I used to swap Holley's and manifolds almost yearly, lubed, oiled and just about everything on an old GMC growing up. Haven't touched a modern car in over 2 decades. Gotta love those old ones where you knew the rattle and not only what it was, but how to fix it.
