Moderation, Moderators and Your Account

I have a question about an action taken by a moderator.

We are happy to discuss with you privately. You can submit your request in the form below and we’ll have someone from our community team jump in to help sort it out.

How do I help the moderators?
Bronco moderators work to ensure the best interests of the community and the conversation are maintained. You can help them by flagging inappropriate comments or threads, and if you receive a warning from a moderator for a violation of our Code of Online Conduct, we ask that you make the appropriate changes.

How can I become a moderator?
Moderators are folks who have been around the Bronco forums for awhile and have consistently contributed to the community and culture. We don’t have a forum vetting process for moderators, but if you’re interested, we encourage you to be active, answer questions, report with good reason, and help newcomers settle in. The world can always use more helpful and nice people.

Is it okay to promote anything that I am familiar with but not gaining anything personally out of it? referring to the Tread Lightly! program that has great off-road resources for outdoor ethics. Is that okay to post? Thank you Admin for your consideration.

Promoting is not okay, but helpfully sharing your knowledge about a useful resource in response to a comment or question is okay. I think you'll be okay as long as you refrain from posting it multiple times or in multiple threads, especially if it's relevant to the conversation.

Greetings, before posting, I wanted to clarify the promoting rule. A group of us are organizing a race using the new Bronco inspired by the famous Camel Trophy. This would be a multi-day adventure race in the back country of Alaska. This is a grass roots effort and not a commercial endeavor. We are looking for those interested in participating in any way. Let me know if this crosses the line.

Sorry, I'm not the person to say ya or nay on this but wanted to say what you guys are trying to do sounds like a lot of fun. I know we have several members here from Alaska so maybe they would be willing to help.

Thanks for checking. Yes, posting about an event like this is appropriate and welcome, as long as you do so with proper restraint, and with respect for peoples privacy. Sounds amazing, I hope you get some good participation. I look forward to hearing more about it. Hopefully you'll add a class for early Broncos (Gen 1) and full-size Broncos (Gen 2-5) as well, and get some participation from owners of the older vehicles.

In order to let people know about it, I recommend creating a "Round-Up Event". Doing so will automatically give you your own thread in the Events forum, allow people to RSVP, and add a location to the member map. If you don't have details or dates set yet, and you just want to discuss the possibilities and gauge interest, you could start with a regular thread in one of the forums in the "Bronco Life" section.

A few things you should keep in mind: Do not start multiple threads across several forums. Do not hijack unrelated discussions. Do not send private messages to people that have not expressed interest. Do not add users names or contact info to external communication lists without their consent.
