Having many two speed suv's like Porsche Cayenne turbo, range rover, explorers and original expedition.Jeep fell apart. Even had American Eagle, but not 2 speed, but only issues was fluid couplings.
So if my base is only 5 Goat setting, can a Ford tuner upgrade software to 7 GOATs?

Gonna take hardware as well. How do you select "Baha" mode if there's no option for it in the hardware?

Interested more from the perspective of adding "Sport" mode to my First Edition. I can't imagine that is a hardware issue...

There is really no need, you can put it in Baja mode and just turn off the 4x4, it’s what the Raptor folks have to do. The goat modes don’t give you the ability to do those things, like crawl but it sets it up with one flip of a switch but with the hero switches the Goat modes are more for convenience.

Good question as I also was wondering if Sport mode could be programmed in case I opt for a Badlands vs Wildtrak. Be great if a Ford employee could explain the difference in 2WD Baja mode vs Sport mode. I suspect there may be significant differences in sport for pavement vs baja for soft surface (dirt). So, we need an explanation of what vehicle characteristics for each are modified/altered. With my Porsche your entire driving world changes with Sport mode, the ride firmness, steering response, camber settings, swaybar settings, transmission shifting & anticipated gear selecting, ride height, accelerator feel, turbos are spooled up, brakes are prepumped, stability control changes, traction control changes, even the headlights are changed.

I think they're talking about going into Baja mode, then manually switching out of 4H.

That is doable from what has been said on the forums. So in the same, since I would think you could go into Sport and engage 4H possibly giving you BAJAsince the bottom 4 don't have "Baja"

Guess it comes down to what really is changed in the settings on the vehicles for each mode. I haven't seen a real breakdown of what each technically changes outside the GOAT Overview which is more general.

GOAT modes are the marketing team's up selling strategy, much like Toyota'a TRD stickers.

Presets are for the inexperienced or to make setups more quickly, but watching KOH drivers fumble through the GOAT menu opposed to pressing 3 or 4 buttons... it's a presentation ritual thing, animation vs. led indicator light, more impressive for some. Re mapping the throttle may feel sporty, but no additional power is provided. The notion that Baja driving is better/available with a GOAT mode is literally ridiculous, worthy of open, loud ridicule.

I am surprised the marketing team didn't make a GOAT mode sticker pack under the badge, slackers...

There is some value to the goat modes in that they adjust throttle, braking, and steering responsiveness, and shift points for the auto. For example, on a slippery surface you want low throttle sensitivity to help avoid spinning the tires. That being said, I did not base my model choice on which modes I wanted.

I think there are some Boeing 737 Max pilots that would have some strong opinions on multiple/undisclosed software assist modes... especially on something as simple as a truck.

They are also utilizing the stability & traction control systems. Wife's 2021 Explore 4wd also has the different modes and there is no doubt that the Slippery mode for highway driving in wet heavy falling snow that is 4"-6" deep with cross winds (also has cross wind mitigation) is by far the bested handling 4x4 in those conditions that I have ever driven. It really does work. There is no driver that can match all the on-board computer systems ability to keep the vehicle under control. Reason why computer aided driving systems are illegal in auto racing.

Good points. I'd love to get a breakdown of exactly what the modes are doing for all those control systems. I have seen the speculation and guesses posted elsewhere, but I really look forward to Ford releasing the official details and specifications.

Last Christmas I drove my 2019 Mustang down to AZ from the Bay Area. My buddy drove our 2018 Edge. Had to go all the way to San Diego and across Interstate 8 due to snow closing all the other passes. Still caught snow across those mountains. He just drove away in the Edge. I put the Mustang into rain and snow mode and could really feel the difference with traction and handling! Drove slower but no issues. almost felt like AWD

I want to know how/if you can disable all the power and fun robbing nannies. There is nothing better than 2H with rear locked no traction control on a loose trail, oversteer nirvana.
