Depending on what you’re driving and your skill level, Tincup Pass will gift you with a pleasant trail ride with enough challenges to keep your attention or a great opportunity to pick your lines and grow your experience without overwhelming you. Due to the lower technicality, beautiful views, ghost town, and Mirror Lake, we’ve picked this trail for our All Broncos run for Saturday at Super Celebration West. Members registered for the event are welcome to join us!

Check out our other BN-led drives:

The Origins

The pass started as a wagon road, cleared in the 1880s to move supplies between towns, and has now become a favorite trail for off-roaders. On it, you’ll wind through two national forests, getting an eyeful of pines and aspens, and, if you’re lucky, wildlife. The mountain pass has an elevation of 12,154 ft. High cliffs and deep valleys will have you saying “wow” as they appear into view.

The Overview

Tincup Pass runs approximately 13 miles, starting at one of the most popular ghost towns in Colorado and heading toward the small, history-rich town of Tincup. Running the trail takes 2-3 hours, and there are several places to stop as a group for pictures, including the beautiful Mirror Lake.

The Terrain

The trail is rocky, but still easily traversed by even lower-clearance Broncos and Sports. If you have it, hit the sta-bar disconnect once you’re beginning the drive for a little added comfort. There are narrow sections where you may need to wait for vehicles coming the other direction to pass and a short section of shelf road, so save your staring at the scenery until it’s safe to do so!

We can't wait to hit the trails with you at Super Cel next week, and we wish safe travels to everyone meeting us there!
