Before I bought the car I purchased bigger tires. I found that I really like the stock tires on it. But I have these tires and I don’t want to use the level kit yet.

I believe stock height allows for 285s without rubbing. You should be able to remove your crash bars and go a bit bigger, which are bolted on. SAS have the crash bars already removed. You could also sell the tires, I’m sure someone will take them.

I’d think if you’re putting a level on then you should be good to go. Worst case scenario, may have to remove the crash bars, but those are bolted on so it will be an easy and non-permanent removal. Snap some pics and post them here when you’re done!

285 and 295 is the width, not the height, measured in millimeters. 295mm is a 11.5" wide tire, approximately, having nothing to do with how tall it is.

I don’t believe that is correct. The height is determined by the aspect ratio which is a percentage of the width. Could be wrong, but I believe that’s how those numbers are calculated.

First number is width in mm.
Second number is the aspect ratio which is a percentage of the first and is sidewall height. I was in the tire biz for a while.
If you go to Tire Rack you can see what the actual tire specs are.

As ditchrunner stated, the first number is the width. The second number is the aspect ratio (percentage of the width) which applies to one sidewall. You add both sidewall lengths, plus the wheel length (diameter) to obtain the overall tire height.

295 is about 11.5"
70% of 11.5" is about 8"
A 295/70/17 is then 8" + 8" + 17 = 32" tall and 11.5" wide
A 295/70/17 is then about 32 x 11.5 x 17.

Again, the first number is the width. A 285mm is not a 33" tire, a 295mm is not a 32" tire and a 315mm is not a 35" tire. The first number, width, has nothing to do with the height, but the height has everything to do with the width (when talking about metric sizing).

ETA: I've explained this to a lot of people, but here's another post explaining it if this makes more sense:
