Base Build - Modular Bumper with Upgraded Bash Plates or No?

So I have a very basic 2dr base build with the sasquatch package and manual transmission. I'm planning to build this for offroad but figured I'd get bumper and protection aftermarket. But aftermarket looks to be quite a bit more than what you can get from the factory if ordered with the vehicle.

For those that have the Modular front bumper, and upgrade front steel bash plates, are they worth getting? Or is the aftermarket just too good to waste the $825 for the Modular front bumper?

It all depends on what your long term plans are. The base is a fantastic platform to build your Bronco the way you want. I personally would get it, but I have maybe different goals in mind. One thing I would do is spend the extra to get the aux switches. They will be much more expensive to add later, and give you a lot of options for accessories.

I have a Black Diamond on order so I'm getting the upgraded full body bash plates anyway. I guess I'll see how they hold up. If nothing else they will hold up better than the plastic piece that comes standard on other models.

In regards to the bumper itself I mulled over upgrading to the modular bumper from the capable bumper. I had the mod bumper in my build but decided to take it off. My reason is the capable bumper comes with fogs and the fog switch. No need to worry about wiring up fogs later. And the options for pocket lights for the mod bumper are not cheap. Even if I switch the bumper out later I'm already wired and switched.

I would say For $825 the modular bumper with front bash plates is a pretty good deal. You probably won't be able to touch a decent aftermarket bumper alone for anywhere near that much. And as Sdakotabronco already said at least spring for the auxiliary switches. It's a bargain for $195. And will make wiring up fogs much easier.

Basquatch with mod bump & aux switches. In my eye best $ spent out of the box factory w/ warranty.

I actually had a base ordered but changed to the Black Diamond after I compared all the add-ons I wanted on the base with the options that come standard on the Black Diamond. Getting the MGV, washout interior, larger tires, and rear locker justified the added cost. I don't need the Sasquatch.

My husband and I both like the bash plates on my BL. Much more substantial than what was on my 12 JKUR. AuX switches suggestion is good advise too!

Thanks all. I do have the Aux Switches ordered. I'll talk to the dealer about adding the mod bumper to my order.

Aftermarket so far has focused on the Mod bumper. By far, the single biggest bargain is the Aux switches...

I agree with everyone on this Thread, I saw a video with 1Five1 Garage where Jill & Shawn took out their Bronco for a little off roading and they were going through a little mud down a two track, they weren't even weelin' for that long, when they were done they looked at the stock Bash plate and it was severely damaged. It is made from a thin pressed plastic, needless to say they changed that out right a way. My suggestion to you would be since you say you will be wheelin' this thing I would get The Modular Bumper just for having a solid bumper to add a Light Bar and having a steel bash plate. I contemplated the same thing because I would love to have the fog lights already mounted into the bumper, but I keep coming back around to the bash plate and I will not switch from my order with the Modular Bumper because of that reason.

Are you getting a base? Base doesn't have the option for fogs.

I had originally ordered the mod bumper but after looking at the mod bumpers on the Broncos running rubicon decided it was junk and took it off my Order. Will go all aftermarket (or fabbed) bumpers, skids & sliders...
