1990 Bronco Eddie Bauer 302

My Dad had a 90 Eddie Bauer. I learned how to drive with that truck. So much fun.

I also need some advice. We can start her but only if we jump the solenoid. We have a new steering column, a new starter, new spark plugs etc. Any ideas on what’s wrong?

Stupid question but have you checked the battery for starting power?

Yes. It’s a brand new battery

Yep. It will start and run when you jump the solenoid but it doesn’t crank when you use the key

Gotcha. So a problem between the ignition switch and the battery. I would lean towards faulty ignition switch but IDK for sure.

When you say it won't crank, do you mean the starter won't run or it will turn the motor but it won't start?

Nothing happens when you turn the key. You hear the dash lights come on and the fuel pump engage and that’s it

Have you also changed out the solenoid?

This is probably irrelevant, but I had a 1978 Ford F150 that had wiring gremlins. One of which was the engine wouldn't start sometimes because despite the column shifter being set to Park, the truck thought it was in gear. I sometimes had to shift out of Park, then back to Park for the truck to start. I jumped the solenoid occasionally for months before realizing this.

I've heard of that happening and the same thing can happen with the clutch safety switch.

We don’t know if power is getting to the solenoid and it’s a manual. We’ve also replaced the clutch safety switch
