Anyone planning on ordering their new Bronco with a winch?

I would like to order the winch bumper with the winch that is on the Badlands that was at the SuperCelWest. However, if Ford is overpricing their accessories than I will look for a better/cheaper option elsewhere. I hope they try and stay competitive or possibly lower than the aftermarket arena, that usually isn't the case though as auto manufacturers like to overcharge for accessories most of the time, at least from what I have seen.

Probably not, even debating whether I want the modular bumper or not considering the plethora of aftermarket that will exist.

As cool as it looks, I will probably pass for now. I’m already thinking I’m going to have to make some serious cost trade offs with amenities I want and would most likely use. My abilities and comfort for the off-road won’t put me in a place to need a winch most likely. Probably be relying on a buddy and some chains.

Depends on the bumper options. I don't care for the mini bumpers they have been showcasing. I need something to deflect deer so the front grill and lights aren't constantly getting smashed. I see a half dozen up to 20 deer every morning and night to and from work. Every time we travel outside of town, deer. They are everywhere here, except in the woods when you have a gun. I've got a freezer full of fresh roadkill burger. I've even seen a few Jeeps with mad max spikes in the front of their grills so they can just keep on driving home, with their prize still stuck up front. If Ford has a nice big deer yeeter bumper, with a spot for the winch, and it's fairly priced, I'll try to get it installed St the factory

As you think about the places you hope to off-road with your Bronco, you might consider 2 or 4 Maxtrax. Of course, if you buy the Maxtrax, you need to think about where you store them in/on your Bronco. The video attached might be helpful.

I love the look of the Badlands setup from SuperCelWest and would consider if reasonably priced. However, as the others have said, I will likely have to make some tough decisions on options once the B&P tool is out and will pick up down the road when funds allow. :)

Yep, at least at first I will probably just have a tow strap and a come-along. maybe I can store it in the winch area.:)

If you do install a winch, please keep in mind you may be asked to help a team member. With the winch comes the expectation you can operate it safely. As you acquire the skills you need, the video below may be helpful.

Our old Undersheriff used to say "there are two types of people in the county, those who have hit deer and those who will." I've gotten two myself, both with my '03 F-150. One was an 8-point buck and caused $5,000 in cosmetic damage - no mechanical.

I've seen quite a few overlanding videos the last few months and almost every one of them have these Maxtrax boards. They seem to work exceptionally well and the wheelers prefer to use them over winching if they can.

As for a winch for myself, I'd like to get one as well as the Maxtrax boards. Buying a winch will depend on a few things.

#1 Research on my part.
#2 Learning what winches will not block the trail or front camera from Ford.
#3 Cost. How much will Ford charge for the one(s) they will end up offering? Will I buy it with the Bronco, or buy it separately from the Parts department?
#4 Can I get a third-party winch that is better and less expensive and also not block the camera?

These are all things I want to consider before buying an winch.

For me, I will be holding off buying a winch until I analyze which size to purchase. (I do plan to carry Maxtrax for self-recovery.)

Ford has been showing a Warn Zeon 10-S, which is part of their premium line of winches. For self-recovery, the size is appropriate.

If you plan to purchase a Badlands, the estimated base curb weight in pounds falls within the range of 4661 to 5320lbs (4 door with the 2.7). As you add in options, spouse, kids, dogs and gear you could weight in at around 6000lbs. Warn recommends sizing the winch to GVWR times 1.5. In this example the GVWR of 6000lbs times 1.5 would equal 9,000lbs. Therefore, the Warn Zeon 10-S would be a wise choice for self-rescues.

Please keep in mind not all vehicles out on the trails will have a GVWR of 6000lbs or less. So, if you are asked to help a buddy, it would be important to know his/her GVWR. It is because of this issue that I am investigating the Zeon 12-S.

Yep. All it takes is one time and then that $2,000 bumper doesn't seem all that overpriced anymore.

I would like the setup in the video. It is all about price though.

great info, thanks!

side note, that 10-S can be had on Amazon for about $1300. Be interesting to see what the Ford Price is.

I have 2 pair of maxtrax, but for the price $600/4), I would buy a winch. My winch gets used often on recoveries, maxtrax not so much. Lots of digging in the snow to get them low enough to get a grip, often spinning tires wear out the nubs, requiring bolts to be added to regain the traction. Not saying recovery boards don’t have their place, I have used mine a decent amount, but typically 5 minutes with a winch and you are back in action, and nobody has damaged your boards!

As most have said it will depend on what is available and the price. If it is close I would rather it just come with it when I purchase the Bronco. I am planning on taking it out immediately after filling up the tank on day one. I won't go anywhere crazy that day but would still like to have the winch if possible. Hopefully all of that will be on the B&P soon.

Do you know of a good place to go to get a winch installed?

My current winch is ten years old, enclosed in plate bumper, 12,000 lbs. Larger rated winchs pull less current to do the same work as smaller rated winchs, so I pack as much as will fit.
