We have 1,400 miles on our 2023 Badlands and have started our build. The build is slow going but has some awesome mods so far. Much more to come.
The first thing we did was install lots of lights. We installed Diode Dynamics SS3 Max yellow lens with Driving pattern in place of the fog lights. We used the supplied harnesses and plugged into the factory fog light harness and then ran the other wire to aux switch 6 for our back light.
The next thing we did is install Diode Dynamics SS3 pro ditch lights with a clear lens and driving pattern. These have an amber backlight that is also tied in to aux switch 6. We wired the main beam into aux switch 2
The next thing we did was install the Diode Dynamics reverse light kit. These work automatically with the reverse and tail lights and the main beam is also wired into aux switch 3.
After the reverse lights we installed the Diode Dynamics Hitchmount light that plugs in to the the 7 pin trailer harness and works with reverse lights, tail lights and brake lights. This was by far the easiest mod we did.
My wife ordered a bug deflector from IAG. It is the one with the amber marker lights. It is designed to wire into running lights and turn signals. I didn't want to splice into the factory harness so I hooked all of the power leads into aux 6 with the rest of my back lights (Except the SS5 windshield kit which has those back lights on their own switch).
We next moved to the Diode Dynamics SS5 Windshield Link kit. We opted for clear lenses and swapped them all out from the combo pattern to the driving pattern. We went with the Pros and it is the brightest lights i've seen in my life. They are insane. Pictures don't do justice showing how bright 7 SS5 Pro lights are. I wired the main beams to Aux 1 and the back lights to aux 5.
At this point it was time to install the Diode Dynamics Rock Lights. We opted for the RGBW Kit with 8 lights. These were also a super easy install. I used the Diode Dynamics magnetic mounts for time and ease of installation. I also wanted to test them and I am not disappointed. The magnets are strong and hold well. The lights all have leads with a connector and the kit comes with extension wires and splitters to make the install quick and easy. I wired the bluetooth controller to aux 4.
The last thing I have done to this point is an ADS Racing Shocks suspension system. I did the install at home, in my garage, by myself to show it can easily be done. I am super impressed with this system. I will go with 37s soon. This kit will clear 37s. I did some testing with the 35s and I am very impressed.
I am happy to answer any questions anyone may have about our build or the installation of any of the parts.
Now for the fun part. The photos!
