Was watching a YouTube (I think Canadian) about a guy who said his ‘21 Bronco without fog lights had wiring in place for both front fog lights AND rear fog lights (evidently a thing in Europe).

I have a 23 OBX with modulate bumper…. Can anyone verify whether or not the wiring harness in ‘23’s have the fog light taps?

This guy had also found a European (I think) switch that had both front and rear fog light buttons in the center of the headlight dial…

What would be the purpose of rear facing fog lights?

Thanks, all, and good day!

By having that switch it gives you options to put in different lighting configurations, not necessarily rear fog lights. Depending on what you are adding to your build this switch can save your upfitter switches for other uses.

I think it depends on the package- Its there on High and Lux, or atleast thats what I remember. The switches are plug and play and you can turn on the fogs with FORSCAN.

The rear fog light plug is not there on North American models, but you can order the harness that it goes into and get the plug, or tap the wire in the body harness. There is also a metal bronco rear bumper available with the cut out for the rear fog (its a single light, and sits under the spare).

Rear fog lights are to help you be visible to other drivers. Not required here in the states, but not illegal either, so long as it follows your states rules on rear facing light colors.

The advantage to me is that I can get some chase lights in the back without using an Aux switch. That may not be important for every application, but I like messing around with this stuff, so Im going to figure it out.

Just for clarification on rear 'fog' lights. In Europe, if you are running with your fog lights on, one of the rear tail lights (or a separate light) is brighter to indicate you are driving in fog. We had a Volvo years ago and when the fogs were on, the right rear tail light was brighter (as if the brake was pressed). So, assume the reason the 'rear fog' in the Bronco is red is to be the brighter red light in the back.

Just some context.

"While not common in the U.S., rear fog lights are mandatory in Europe. Typically, the rear fog light is a bright red light that is the same brightness as your brake lights. The job of the rear fog lamp is to reveal the position of your vehicle when driving in the fog, snow or other conditions that limit visibility."
