We had a friend who would bring his cats camping. One weekend he brought 2 and would connect them together with one leash.
One morning he called them back to the camper at the same moment something scared them. They took off toward the camper. But there was a tree. One went on one side, one went on the other. Each had all 4 legs out straight when the slack was gone. Hilarious!

Last year, we took some of my spouse's coworkers out camping with us (they all had a great time), but one of them brought their cat on a leash and would walk it around the campsite. It was very strange.

My dogs were very interested in meeting that cat. The cat did not return their enthusiasm.

At one point, the younger dog (who was like 8 months at the time) got a running head start and got to the cat, only to get thumped in the face pretty intensely. I am pretty sure that was the first time something had really hit her bad. She was very confused why the chew toy was sharp and hissing. Learning occurred. She gave the camping cat a wide berth the rest of the weekend.
