It finally peeled off. My black bronco nation badge is now just shiny chrome.

Yep, mine too. I got back from Moab and all the black peeled off.😏

Anyone who has a badge peel, email [email protected]. As you can imagine, they aren't supposed to do that 😓

So I've been thinking about how I could paint my current one, but I haven't really looked close if my idea will work or not.
If you spray paint the entire surface without any masking, could you sand off the high parts of the badge? Like rub the entire badge face on a flat sheet of sandpaper to remove the paint off the high surfaces?

Maybe with a 600 grit??? That would definitely create a brushed look though. Or maybe on a flat surface with polishing compound??? Have to use something fairly ridged though as the lower surface because if it flexed up at all it would polish off more than the raised edge.

Yeah, I may have to try a few different things. Polishing compound might work and I may try that first. Not sure when I'll get to it but I'm going to give it a try.

The white badge is intended for external use while the black badge is intended for internal use only.

Find some place to bolt it INSIDE your Bronco! 🤓

Anytime I did detail sanding like this I always tried to find a flat pane of glass to work off of. Seemed to maintain that flat surface the best for this type of work.

If you are using the touch up spray, it uses a base coat and a clear coat. You might be able to polish out the details and then clear the whole piece.

It wasn't THAT hot in Moab, was it? Personally, I've been keeping mine on my desk for this very reason. Well that and I'm too lazy to remove the grill to install it!

No, it definitely wasn't that hot. I noticed towards the end of the week in Moab, the large black patch of paint had started to loosen up from the backing. Once the paint came off, IMHO it was easy to see why the paint comes off. The entire backing is highly polished so the paint has a tough time adhering to that polished surface. I would imagine the additional heat generated by it being black doesn't help the situation. I don't have access to a grit blaster anymore but may try to roughen up the surface with a rough sandpaper first before I paint the old one.
