It wasn't THAT hot in Moab, was it? Personally, I've been keeping mine on my desk for this very reason. Well that and I'm too lazy to remove the grill to install it!
No, it definitely wasn't that hot. I noticed towards the end of the week in Moab, the large black patch of paint had started to loosen up from the backing. Once the paint came off, IMHO it was easy to see why the paint comes off. The entire backing is highly polished so the paint has a tough time adhering to that polished surface. I would imagine the additional heat generated by it being black doesn't help the situation. I don't have access to a grit blaster anymore but may try to roughen up the surface with a rough sandpaper first before I paint the old one.
